Offering capacities of up to 7.5TB* (7500GB) and a versatile hot-swap feature, the 5big Network supports seven RAID modes including RAID 5 and RAID 6 for more flexibility and superior data protection. Designed with the modern professional office in mind, the 5big Network is housed in a sleek and durable aluminum tower with five lockable, removable drive trays. Its stackable design helps to save space and its browser-based access and management system allows administrators to quickly set up the 5big Network and allow multiple users to share, store, and access data without taxing the bandwidth of a central server. This solution additionally features Active Directory Support (ADS) for easy integration into Windows-based networks and a Wake-on-LAN function, indispensable features for IT managers. Five Drive Bays and Seven Different RAID Modes This 5big Network includes 10 TB of disk space, enough to store your important data, digital media files, and more. If you need a different amount of disk space, the 5big drives also come in 7.5 TB, 5 TB and 2.5 TB versions. You can also easily upgrade the disk drives later if you choose by installing compatible drives (sold separately). Because the 5big features hot-swappable drives that are easily accessed using a drive-tray system, increasing capacity is extremely simple. The 5big gives you the option of seven different RAID modes: RAID 0, RAID 5, RAID 5+Spare, RAID 3, RAID 3+Spare, Concatenation, and RAID 10. Depending on the RAID mode you choose, you can either optimize the 5big for faster performance and higher storage space, or for more protection. And thanks to the 5big's DHCP and Apipa support, network configuration is automatic and fast. And with Windows ADS domain support, there's no need for you to recreate user and group accounts, nor is there a need for your end users to create new passwords and usernames. An added bonus, the 5big Network provides you with email notifications about backup status, RAID construction, downloads, high temperature, disk damage, and fan damage. All-in-One Multimedia Solution Stream multimedia content to your television or play your media on any UpnP AV-compatible Digital Media Adapter (DMA), such as a PS3 or Xbox, without using a computer--simply store the information directly on the 5big. This hard drive has been developed to be compatible with any DLNA multimedia device and also works with iTunes. Additionally, the 5big can download torrent files automatically, even when your computer is turned off. Backup Software Included The 5big Network comes with three client licenses for Genie Backup Manager Pro (Windows) and three licenses for Intego Backup Manager Pro (Mac). This software lets you reliably and efficiently back up your documents, emails, settings, or other digital assets. It also allows you to schedule backups and customize backup types. Ideal for small-business network administrators, the Genie and Intego programs can easily find previous versions of your documents and restore them. Efficient Power Consumption Traditional RAID systems can consume a lot of power, but the 5big Network is different. LaCie has reduced power consumption of this five-disk network by 25 percent compared to four-disk RAID devices. One way LaCie has accomplished this is by designing an auto mode; just hit "Auto" on the power button and the 5big will go into standby, reducing energy consumption by up to 75 percent. Conveniently, end users can switch the 5big Network back to the operating mode thanks to its Wake-on-LAN feature.
